About Us

Welcome to Polar Bear Hockey! This organization exists to provide area youth the opportunity to play the game of hockey. It is run by a dedicated group of volunteers who work to make sure that your child learns and enjoys the game.

Polar Bear Hockey is a member of both USA Hockey and the Michigan Amateur Hockey Association (MAHA). USA Hockey sets the playing rules for the game within the United States. USA Hockey also provides the insurance program for the players, coaches, referees, and volunteers. MAHA governs hockey within the State of Michigan. It is primarily responsible for setting age levels, team classifications, and for administering the state tournaments. Ironwood lies within MAHA District 8, which encompasses most of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
